Dear Friends,
As summer ends, it's not so gentle a retreat. I find myself reflecting on the nature of change. Even though in this part of the country, we do not see a drastic change when the seasons pass, there is something so distinct and surreal about summer fading into fall. Every year, I am stunned by how quickly those warm, carefree summer nights turn into the rush that is autumn. For my family and I, harvest is always a hell of a time. Long days, and even longer nights. The way the sunlight looks differently through the trees around this time of year, it feels like the promise of new beginnings, and the end of yet another chapter.
Well, if you have not noticed, a different author is writing this wine club letter. I want to introduce myself formally; my name is Taylor Gummere, and I am Sara and Joey's daughter. I am a senior at Arizona State University, and I have a little bit of time on my hands, so I volunteered to take something off my mom’s plate. I’m feeling sentimental these days because everything is about to change. The idea of change has haunted me my whole life. I am only 20 years old, and change seems to come knocking on my door every couple of months. It's inevitable. Change can feel unsettling, like standing on the edge of something so tall that you can't even look down. The fear of what we might lose can overshadow the excitement of what's to come. Yet, in those very moments of uncertainty, I've learned that is when the most profound growth happens. In the uncomfortable spaces, we discover resilience and strength we didn't know we had.
Change is a chance to reinvent ourselves, to be whoever we want to be, to make our families, friends, and even our past selves proud, and to be grateful that we can redirect when something isn't working. Fall reminds us that there is a cycle, some security in that the best times and the worst times always come to an end. Being present and being able to adapt is the only thing we can do to survive. Amid the autumn rush, I hope this letter will give you the courage to embrace new experiences and recognize the beauty of this life, no matter how overwhelming it can get. I encourage you to give yourself grace and the freedom of choice when change comes knocking at your door.
Thank you for the opportunity to remind myself that change can be full of grace and opportunity. I am so grateful that you support our family business, my parents view you as part of our family. Also, we have a lot of great new wines, lol.

Harvest is off to a slow start, but just in time for a wonderfully warm weekend, our new release, 2023 La Encantada Vineyards Pinot Blanc, is your TGIF wine this week. This is a bold statement, but I can definitively state that my favorite white wine is now Pinot Blanc. I find it so crisp, clean, interesting, complex, and pretty all at once. TGIF=$30/bottle.

Harvest officially started for us yesterday. We brought in two tons of perfectly ripe Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir. It is always dicey firing up the equipment that has been resting for nine months, and you never know what problems you will uncover. This week, we just had to replace our pH meter, so I'm feeling pretty lucky!!
This week our TGIF wine is the 2021 Tempranillo from Adobe Canyon Vineyard. I love this wine for its amazing versatility. It pairs seamlessly with all kinds of cuisine and it can be both on the light side as well as a full-bodied glass of wine. TGIF=$30/bottle for members only.

I am so pleased to release our 2022 G Street Pinot Noir. This is a wonderful Sta. Rita Hills blend of two different vineyards and three different clones. Our TGIF this week is the 2021 La Pareja. La Pareja translates to "the couple" in Spanish and we think that Grenache and Syrah are quite possibly the perfect couple. This is a delightful and robust blend of Syrah from Zotovich Vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills and Grenache from Portico Hills Vineyard in Los Alimos. Regularly $46/bottle. TGIF=$30/bottle.
